Graduation Success
Our average graduating class size is 16 students. Over the last 3 years (2021-2023), our graduates have earned over 2.8 million in scholarships. View the 4 year colleges and universities our graduates have been accepted into below.
Self-Directed Learning
We support our students in becoming courageous learners. All students at Compass must complete self-designed inquiries and independent venture projects that demonstrate our core competencies.
Students must participate in at least one leadership experience during their time at Compass and have many opportunities to join other staff and students in existing programs or design their own.
Academic Rigor
Students at Compass demonstrate academic competency in core subject areas including English, math, humanities, science, and world language as well as logging time and reflections in health and wellness and the arts. Students complete a college-level academic research paper on a topic of their choice in their junior or senior year.
What makes our school really different and the learning deeper is that we focus on helping students develop the skills of collaboration, critical thinking, accountability, consequential thinking, written/visual communication, speech, self and social awareness, emotional literacy, and design thinking.
Community-Engagement
Compass is located in the heart of midtown at the Spring Creek MAX bus stop so that we have easy access to the rest of our campus... the city of Fort Collins and the campus of Colorado State University. Classes travel frequently to our community partners to work and learn with professionals and college students, and we host professionals from around the city and country in our school on a regular basis.
Students at Compass play an active role in our larger community not only within the context of their classwork, but also as students engaged in work-based learning. All students participate in a significant community partnership experience before they graduate. To meet this requirement, students have opportunities for job shadows, service projects, internships, and apprenticeships.
Futures Planning
We believe that all students need to be prepared for career and college and that the best way to do that is to help them understand themselves (aptitudes) and to teach them to be independent, life-long learners. All students participate in self-assessments, college and career exploration starting in 6th-grade. In high school, they design and complete internships, create a post secondary plan (including a financial plan), and present a final portfolio of their learning and professional skills to take with them as they emerge as young adults.
